وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ بِالْكُوفَةِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ ��ُرْدٍ الْأَنْطَاكِيُّ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحُنَيْنِيُّ قَالَ ذَكَرَهُ هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ قَالَ جَاءَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْأَضْحَى فَقَالَ كَيْفَ رَأَيْتَ نُسُكَنَا هَذَا؟ قَالَ لَقَدْ بَاهَى بِهِ أَهْلُ السَّمَاءِ وَاعْلَمْ يَا مُحَمَّدُ أَنَّ الْجَذَعَ مِنَ الضَّأْنِ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الثَّنِيَّةِ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ وَالْبَقَرِ وَلَوْ عَلِمَ اللهُ ذَبْحًا أَفْضَلَ مِنْهُ لَفَدَى بِهِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ وَرَوَاهُ أَيْضًا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ السِّمْنَانِيُّ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ زَادَ فِيهِ وَالْجَذَعُ مِنَ الضَّأْنِ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الثَّنِيَّةِ مِنَ الْمَعْزِ وَإِسْحَاقُ يَنْفَرِدُ بِهِ وَفِي حَدِيثِهِ ضَعْفٌ
English Translation
And Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Uqbah al-Shaybani informed us in Kufa, Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Burd al-Antaki narrated to us, Ishaq ibn Ibrahim al-Hunayni narrated to us, he said: Hisham ibn Sa'd mentioned it from Zayd ibn Aslam from Ata' ibn Yasar from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: Jibril (peace be upon him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the Day of Sacrifice and said: "How did you find this ritual of ours?" He said: "The people of the heavens have boasted about it. Know, O Muhammad, that a young sheep from the ewes is better than a two-year-old from camels and cattle, and if Allah knew of a sacrifice better than it, He would have ransomed Ibrahim (peace be upon him) with it." Abu Ja'far al-Simnani also narrated it from Ishaq, adding: "And a young sheep from the ewes is better than a two-year-old from goats." Ishaq is alone in narrating this, and his narration contains weakness.
