أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ تَفْسِيرُ الْوَاصِلَةِ الَّتِي تَصِلُ الشَّعْرَ بِشَعْرِ النِّسَاءِ وَالْمُسْتَوْصِلَةُ الْمَعْمُولُ بِهَا وَالنَّامِصَةُ الَّتِي تَنْقُشُ الْحَاجِبَ حَتَّى تُرِقَّهُ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَةُ الْمَعْمُولُ بِهَا وَالْوَاشِمَةُ الَّتِي تَجْعَلُ الْخِيلَانَ فِي وَجْهِهَا بِكُحْلٍ أَوْ مِدَادٍ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَةُ الْمَعْمُولُ بِهَا قَالَ الْفَرَّاءُ النَّامِصَةُ الَّتِي تَنْتِفُ الشَّعْرَ مِنَ الْوَجْهِ وَمِنْهُ قِيلَ لِلْمِنْقَاشِ الْمِنْمَاصِ لِأَنَّهُ يُنْتَفُ بِهِ
English Translation
Abu Dawud said: The explanation of al-wasilah is the woman who joins hair to other women's hair; al-mustawsilah is the one who has it done; al-namisah is the one who thins the eyebrows until they become fine; al-mutanammisah is the one who has it done; al-washimah is the one who makes marks on the face with kohl or ink; and al-mustawshimah is the one who has it done. Al-Farra' said: Al-namisah is the one who plucks hair from the face, and from it the tweezers are called al-minmas because hair is plucked with it.
