English Translation
Ibn Abbas said: When Allah revealed, 'And do not approach the orphan's wealth except in the way that is best' [Al-An'am 152] and 'Indeed, those who consume the wealth of orphans unjustly are only consuming fire into their bellies, and they will be burned in a Blaze' [An-Nisa 10], everyone who had an orphan went and separated the orphan's food from his own food and his drink from his own drink. The leftover food and drink would be kept until the orphan ate it or it spoiled. This became difficult for them, so they mentioned it to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). Then Allah revealed: 'They ask you about orphans. Say: Improvement for them is best. And if you mix your affairs with theirs, they are your brothers' [Al-Baqarah 220]. So they mixed their food with the orphans' food and their drink with the orphans' drink.
