أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ بْنُ عَبْدَانَ أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَافَلَائِيُّ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ ثنا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ الْأَوْدِيِّ قَالَ شَهِدْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ حِينَ طُعِنَ فَذَكَرَ الْقِصَّةَ وَفِيهَا فَقَالَ عُمَرُ ؓ يَا عَبْدَ اللهِ ائْتِنِي بِالْكَتِفِ الَّتِي كَتَبْتُ فِيهَا شَأْنَ الْجَدِّ بِالْأَمْسِ وَقَالَ لَوْ أَرَادَ اللهُ أَنْ يُتِمَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ لَأَتَمَّهُ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ نَحْنُ نَكْفِيكَ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَ لَا فَأَخَذَهَا فَمَحَاهَا بِيَدِهِ
English Translation
Abu al-Hasan ibn Abdan informed us: Ahmad ibn Ubayd al-Saffar narrated to us: Ali ibn al-Hasan al-Qaflai narrated to us: Mu'awiyah ibn Amr narrated to us: Zuhayr ibn Mu'awiyah narrated to us: Abu Ishaq narrated from Amr ibn Maymun al-Awdi who said: 'I witnessed Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was stabbed.' He mentioned the story, which includes: Umar said: 'O Abdullah, bring me the shoulder bone on which I wrote the ruling about the grandfather yesterday.' He said: 'If Allah had willed to complete this matter, He would have completed it.' Abdullah said: 'We will spare you this matter, O Commander of the Faithful.' Umar said: 'No.' So he took it and erased it with his hand.
