Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us: Abu al-Fadl ibn Ibrahim narrated to us: Ahmad ibn Salamah narrated to us: Ishaq ibn Ibrahim informed us: Isa ibn Yunus, Abdullah ibn Idris, and Yahya ibn Abd al-Malik ibn Abi Ghaniyyah narrated from Abu Hayyan, who is Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Taymi, from al-Sha'bi from Ibn Umar who said: I heard Umar on the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying: 'As for what follows, O people, the prohibition of wine was revealed, and it is made from five things: grapes, dates, honey, wheat, and barley. Wine is whatever clouds the mind. And three matters, O people, I wish the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had not parted from us until he gave us clear rulings about them: the kalalah, the grandfather, and certain forms of usury.'
