أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ النَّسَائِيُّ بِمِصْرَ ثنا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ ؓ أَرَادَتْ أَنْ تَشْتَرِيَ جَارِيَةً تُعْتِقَهَا فَقَالَ أَهْلُهَا نَبِيعُكِهَا عَلَى أَنَّ الْوَلَاءَ لَنَا فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَا يَمْنَعْكِ ذَلِكَ؛ فَإِنَّ الْوَلَاءَ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ
English Translation
Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us: Abu al-Abbas narrated to us: Yahya ibn Abi Talib narrated to us: Yazid ibn Harun informed us: Sufyan narrated from Mansur from Ibrahim from Abdullah: The Companions of Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to say: The patronage belongs to the greatest free person in the household - meaning the closest male relative of the one who freed.
