حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ قَيْسٍ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَا مِنْ مَوْلُودٍ يُولَدُ إِلَّا عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ حَتَّى يَكُونَ أَبَوَاهُ اللَّذَانِ يُهَوِّدَانِهِ وَيُنَصِّرَانِهِ كَمَا تُنْتِجُونَ أَنْعَامَكُمْ هَلْ تَكُونُ فِيهَا جَدْعَاءُ حَتَّى تَكُونُوا أَنْتُمْ تَجْدَعُونَهَا قَالَ رَجُلٌ وَأَيْنَ هُمْ قَالَ اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوا عَامِلِينَ قَالَ قَيْسٌ مَا أَرَى ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلَ إِلَّا كَانَ قَدَرِيًّا.
English Translation
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "No child is born except upon the natural disposition (fitrah), until his parents make him a Jew or a Christian, just as you breed your livestock - do you find any among them that are mutilated until you mutilate them yourselves?" A man asked: "Then what about them (children who die)?" He said: "Allah knows best what they would have done." Qays said: I do not think that man was anything but a Qadarite.
