English Translation
Sufyan narrated to us: Ayyub ibn Musa narrated to us, from Nafi': Ibn 'Umar went out intending 'umrah, and they informed him that there was unrest in Makkah. He said: "I will enter ihram for 'umrah; if I am prevented, I will do as the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, did." So he entered ihram for 'umrah. When he had traveled a little and was at al-Bayda', he said: "The way of 'umrah is no different from the way of Hajj; I make Hajj obligatory upon myself." And he said: "I call you to witness that I have made Hajj obligatory upon myself, for the way of Hajj is the way of 'umrah." So he arrived at Makkah and circled the House seven times, and went between al-Safa and al-Marwa seven times, and said: "This is how I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, do." He came to Qudayd and bought a sacrificial animal and drove it along with him.
