سَمِعْت سُفْيَانَ قَالَ إِنَّهُ نَذَرَ يَعْنِي أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَمَرَهُ قِيلَ لِسُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ عُمَرَ نَذَرَ قَالَ نَعَمْ.
English Translation
I heard Sufyan say: He had vowed - meaning to perform i'tikaf in the Sacred Mosque - so he asked the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he commanded him [to fulfill it]. It was said to Sufyan: "[Is this] from Ayyub, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, that 'Umar had vowed?" He said: "Yes."
