English Translation
Abu al-Nadr told us, al-Mas'udi told us, Asim ibn Abi al-Najud told us, from Abu Wa'il, from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, who said: Ibn al-Nawwahah and Ibn Uthal, the two envoys of Musaylimah, came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said to them: "Do you both testify that I am the Messenger of Allah?" They said: "We testify that Musaylimah is the messenger of Allah." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I have believed in Allah and His messengers - had I been one to kill an envoy, I would have killed you both." Abdullah said: So it became established practice that envoys are not to be killed.
