حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدِيثَيْنِ أَحَدَهُمَا عَنْ نَفْسِهِ وَالْآخَرَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ يَرَى ذُنُوبَهُ كَأَنَّهُ فِي أَصْلِ جَبَلٍ يَخَافُ أَنْ يَقَعَ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنَّ الْفَاجِرَ يَرَى ذُنُوبَهُ كَذُبَابٍ وَقَعَ عَلَى أَنْفِهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ هَكَذَا فَطَارَ.
English Translation
Abu Mu’awiyah told us: al-A’mash told us, from Ibrahim al-Taymi, from al-Harith ibn Suwayd: Abdullah told us two narrations, one about himself and the other from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. He said: Abdullah said, "The believer sees his sins as if he were at the foot of a mountain, fearing that it might fall upon him, while the wicked sinner sees his sins like a fly that lands on his nose, so he just waves at it like this, and it flies away."
