English Translation
Abd al-Wahhab ibn Ata' narrated to us, Abd al-Jalil al-Qaysi informed us, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, that Asma' bint Yazid used to serve the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). She said: While I was with him, my aunt came. She said: She began asking him questions, and she was wearing two bracelets of gold. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to her: "Would it please you to have on you two bracelets of fire?" She said: I said, "O aunt, he means those two bracelets of yours!" She said: So she threw them off. She said: "O Prophet of Allah, when women do not adorn themselves, they are neglected by their husbands." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) laughed and said: "Can one of you not make earrings of silver and beads of silver, then coat them with saffron so that they look like gold shining? For whoever adorns themselves with even the weight of a locust's eye of gold or a grain's glitter will be branded with it on the Day of Resurrection."
