حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ سَمِعَ شَهْرًا يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ إِحْدَى نِسَاءِ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ تَقُولُ مَرَّ بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ فِي نِسْوَةٍ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْنَا وَقَالَ إِيَّاكُنَّ وَكُفْرَ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا كُفْرُ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ قَالَ لَعَلَّ إِحْدَاكُنَّ أَنْ تَطُولَ أَيْمَتُهَا بَيْنَ أَبَوَيْهَا وَتَعْنُسَ فَيَرْزُقَهَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ زَوْجًا وَيَرْزُقَهَا مِنْهُ مَالًا وَوَلَدًا فَتَغْضَبَ الْغَضْبَةَ فَرَاحَتْ تَقُولُ مَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْهُ يَوْمًا خَيْرًا قَطُّ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً خَيْرًا قَطُّ.
English Translation
Sufyan narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Husayn, who heard Shahr saying: I heard Asma' bint Yazid, one of the women of Banu Abd al-Ashhal, say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by us while we were among a group of women. He greeted us and said: "Beware of the ingratitude of those who are blessed." We said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is the ingratitude of those who are blessed?" He said: "Perhaps one of you remains single for a long time with her parents and grows old, then Allah the Almighty blesses her with a husband and blesses her with wealth and children from him, then she becomes angry in a moment of anger and says: 'I have never seen any good from him, ever!'" And he said on another occasion: "any good at all."
