English Translation
Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr told us, he said: Isra'il told us, from Simak, from Alqamah ibn Wa'il, from his father, he said: A woman went out to prayer, and a man met her and covered her with his garment and satisfied his desire from her, then went away. Then another man came upon her, and she said to him: "A man did such and such to me." So the man went in pursuit of him. Then some men of the Ansar came upon her and fell upon [accused] him, and she said to them: "A man did such and such to me." So they went in pursuit of him, and they brought the man who had gone in pursuit of the man who had assaulted her. They took him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and she said: "This is he." When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be stoned, the man who had actually assaulted her said: "O Messenger of Allah, I am the one." So he said to the woman: "Go, for Allah has forgiven you," and he said a good word to the man. It was said: "O Prophet of Allah, will you not stone him?" He said: "He has repented a repentance which, if the people of Madinah had repented it, it would have been accepted from them."
