حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ غَيْلَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا رِشْدِينُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّ كَثِيرَ بْنَ فَرْقَدٍ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَالِكِ بْنِ حُذَافَةَ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أُمِّهِ الْعَالِيَةِ بِنْتِ سُمَيْعٍ أَوْ سُبَيْعٍ الشَّكُّ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِرِجَالٍ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ يَجُرُّونَ شَاةً لَهُمْ مِثْلَ الْحِمَارِ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْ أَخَذْتُمْ إِهَابَهَا قَالُوا إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُطَهِّرُهَا الْمَاءُ وَالْقَرَظُ.
English Translation
Yahya bin Ghaylan told us: Rishdin bin Sa'd told us: 'Amr bin al-Harith told me that Kathir bin Farqad told him that 'Abdullah bin Malik bin Hudhafah told him, from his mother al-'Aliyah bint Sumay' or Subay' - the doubt is from 'Abdullah - that Maymunah, the wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by some men of Quraysh dragging a sheep of theirs as large as a donkey. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to them: "Why did you not take its hide?" They said: "It is a dead carcass." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Water and tanning bark purify it."
