English Translation
Rawh told us, Ibn Jurayj told us, he said Abu Khalid informed me, from 'Abdullah b. Abi Sa'id al-Muzani, who said: Hafsah bint 'Umar b. al-Khattab told me: One day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had placed his garment between his thighs, when Abu Bakr came and asked permission to enter; he was granted permission while the Prophet remained in that state. Then 'Umar came, the same happened; then 'Ali; then some of his Companions - and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained in that same state. Then 'Uthman came and asked permission to enter; he was granted permission, and the Prophet took his garment and wrapped himself in it. They spoke for a while, then left. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Bakr, 'Umar, 'Ali, and the rest of your Companions came, and you remained as you were; but when 'Uthman came, you wrapped yourself in your garment." He said, "Should I not feel shy before one before whom even the angels feel shy?"
