English Translation
Yazid ibn Harun told us: Nafi' ibn Umar - who is al-Jumahi - informed us, from Ibn Abi Mulaykah, that one of the wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him - and I do not know her except as Hafsah - was asked about the recitation of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and she said: You could not bear it. She said: {Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful} - meaning with slow, measured recitation.
