حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي صَالِحُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ قَالَتْ كَانَ أَوَّلَ مَا افْتُرِضَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصَّلَاةُ رَكْعَتَانِ رَكْعَتَانِ إِلَّا الْمَغْرِبَ فَإِنَّهَا كَانَتْ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ أَتَمَّ اللَّهُ الظُّهْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ وَالْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ أَرْبَعًا فِي الْحَضَرِ وَأَقَرَّ الصَّلَاةَ عَلَى فَرْضِهَا الْأَوَّلِ فِي السَّفَرِ.
English Translation
Ya'qub narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: Salih ibn Kaysan narrated to me, from Urwa ibn al-Zubayr, from Aisha, wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him - he said she said: The first thing made obligatory upon the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, was the prayer, in units of two, two, except the sunset prayer, for it was three. Then God completed the noon, afternoon, and night prayers to four units while at home, and kept the prayer at its original obligation while traveling.
