حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْقَاسِمَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا أَرَادَتْ أَنْ تَشْتَرِيَ بَرِيرَةَ لِلْعِتْقِ فَاشْتَرَطُوا وَلَاءَهَا فَذَكَرَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ اشْتَرِيهَا وَأَعْتِقِيهَا فَإِنَّ الْوَلَاءَ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ وَأُهْدِيَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَحْمٌ فَقَالُوا لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَذَا مَا تُصُدِّقَ بِهِ عَلَى بَرِيرَةَ فَقَالَ هُوَ لَهَا صَدَقَةٌ وَهُوَ لَنَا هَدِيَّةٌ وَخُيِّرَتْ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَكَانَ زَوْجُهَا حُرًّا قَالَ شُعْبَةُ ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ زَوْجِهَا فَقَالَ لَا أَدْرِي.
English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us, he said: Shu'bah told us, he said: I heard Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim say: I heard al-Qasim narrate from Aishah, that she wanted to buy Barirah to free her, but they stipulated to keep her right of inheritance. She mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said: "Buy her and free her, for the right of inheritance belongs to the one who freed her." And meat was given as a gift to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and they said to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "This is what was given as charity to Barirah." He said: "It is charity for her, and a gift for us." And she was given the choice regarding her husband. Abd al-Rahman said: her husband was free. Shu'bah said: I then asked him about her husband, and he said: "I do not know."
