English Translation
Affan narrated to us: al-Qasim ibn al-Fadl narrated to us: Thumamah ibn Hazn al-Qushayri narrated to me, who said: "I asked A'ishah about nabidh (a date/raisin drink). She said: 'The delegation of Abd al-Qays came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he forbade them from preparing nabidh in gourd vessels, hollowed-out wood, tarred vessels, and green jars.' Then she called an Abyssinian slave-girl and said to me: 'Ask this one, for she used to prepare nabidh for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in a waterskin at night; I would tie it and hang it, and when morning came he would drink from it.'"
