English Translation

Ibrahim ibn Ishaq al-Talqani told us: Ibn al-Mubarak and Ali ibn Ishaq told us - Ali said: Abdullah informed us - from Anbasah ibn Sa'id, from Habib ibn Abi Amrah, from Mujahid, who said: Ibn Abbas said, "Do you know how vast Hell is?" I said, "No." He said, "Indeed, by Allah, you do not know: between the earlobe of one of them and his shoulder is a distance of seventy autumns, through which valleys of pus and blood flow." I said, "Rivers?" He said, "No, rather valleys." Then he said, "Do you know how vast Hell is?" I said, "No." He said, "Indeed, by Allah, you do not know. A'ishah told me that she asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about His saying: 'And the whole earth will be in His grip on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens folded in His right hand' - so where will the people be on that day, O Messenger of Allah? He said: 'They will be upon the bridge of Hell.'"
