حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَوْفٍ حَدَّثَنَا زُرَارَةُ قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَلَامٍ ح و حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ قَالَ لَمَّا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ انْجَفَلَ النَّاسُ عَلَيْهِ فَكُنْتُ فِيمَنْ انْجَفَلَ فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنْتُ وَجْهَهُ عَرَفْتُ أَنَّ وَجْهَهُ لَيْسَ بِوَجْهِ كَذَّابٍ فَكَانَ أَوَّلُ شَيْءٍ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ أَفْشُوا السَّلَامَ وَأَطْعِمُوا الطَّعَامَ وَصِلُوا الْأَرْحَامَ وَصَلُّوا وَالنَّاسُ نِيَامٌ تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ بِسَلَامٍ.
English Translation
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Awf: Zurara narrated to us -- he said: Abdullah ibn Salam said -- and Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us: Awf narrated to us, from Zurara, from Abdullah ibn Salam, who said: When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, arrived in Madina, the people rushed out to him, and I was among those who rushed out. When I looked closely at his face, I recognized that his face was not the face of a liar. The first thing I heard him say was: Spread the greeting of peace, feed the hungry, maintain the ties of kinship, and pray at night while people are asleep -- you will enter Paradise in peace.
