English Translation

Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Shu'ba told us: I heard Urwa ibn Abdullah al-Ju'fi narrating from Ibn Hasba or Abu Hasba, from a man who witnessed the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, delivering a sermon and saying: Do you know what the raqub is? They said, "One who has no children." He said: The [true] raqub, the complete raqub, the complete raqub, the complete raqub is the one who had children who died before he could send forward [good deeds] on their behalf. He said: Do you know what the su'luk (destitute) is? They said, "One who has no wealth." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The [true] su'luk, the complete su'luk, the complete su'luk, is one who has wealth but dies without having sent any of it forward [in good deeds]. He then said: What is the surah? They said, "The one thrown down (in wrestling)." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The [true] sur'a, the complete sur'a, the complete sur'a is the man who becomes angry, and his anger intensifies, his face reddens, and his hair bristles, so that his anger throws him down.
