English Translation
Abdullah told us, Abu Hafs Amr ibn Ali ibn Bahr ibn Kathir al-Saqqa told us, Abu Qutayba told us, Umar ibn Nabhan told us, Sallam Abu Isa told us, Safwan ibn al-Mu'attal told us, who said: We set out as pilgrims, and when we were at al-Arj, we suddenly saw a snake writhing, and it was not long before it died. A man brought out a piece of cloth from his saddlebag, wrapped it in it, and buried it, digging a place for it in the ground. When we arrived at Makkah, and we were in the Sacred Mosque, a figure stopped before us and said: Which of you is the companion of Amr ibn Jabir? We said: We do not know him. He said: Which of you is the companion of the jinn? They said: This one. He said: Indeed, may Allah reward you with good. He was among the last of the nine to die, those who came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to listen to the Qur'an.
