English Translation
Ma'mar ibn Sulayman - he is al-Raqqi - narrated to us, al-Hajjaj narrated to us, from Qatadah, from 'Abdullah ibn Abi Qatadah, from his father, that water was set out for him to perform ablution, and a cat lapped from it. He proceeded to perform ablution, and they said: 'O Abu Qatadah, a cat has lapped from it.' He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: "The cat is of the household, and it is among those that go around among you - male or female."'
