Husayn ibn Muhammad narrated to us: Ibn Ayyash narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn al-Muhajir, from al-Abbas ibn Salim al-Lakhmi, who said: Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz sent for Abu Sallam al-Habashi, who was carried to him by the postal courier, to ask him about the Pool; so he was brought before him, and he asked him. He said: I heard Thawban say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "My Pool extends from Aden to Amman of al-Balqa; its water is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey; its cups are as numerous as the stars; whoever drinks a drink from it will never thirst again after it. The first of people to arrive at it are the poor among the Emigrants." Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah, the Exalted, be pleased with him, said, "Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "They are those disheveled of hair, shabby of clothes, who do not marry women of luxury, and for whom the doors of the great are not opened." Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz said, "I have indeed married women of luxury, and doors have been opened for me — except that Allah may have mercy on me. By Allah, I will not oil my hair until it becomes disheveled, nor wash the garment next to my body until it becomes soiled."
