English Translation
Ibn Numayr told us: Abd al-Malik told us, from Ata, from Safwan ibn Abdullah ibn Safwan, who said - and he was married to al-Darda - he said: 'I came to Syria and entered upon Abu al-Darda but did not find him, and found Umm al-Darda. She said: "Do you intend to perform Hajj this year?" I said: "Yes." She said: "Then supplicate good for us, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to say: 'The supplication of a Muslim for his brother in his absence is answered; at his head is an appointed angel; every time he supplicates good for his brother, the angel says, Amin, and for you the like.'"' So I went out to the market and met Abu al-Darda, and he said the same to me, attributing it to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Yazid ibn Harun and Ya'la told us, they said: Abd al-Malik told us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Safwan - Yazid said 'ibn Abdullah' - and he mentioned it.
