حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا عُيَيْنَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ ذَكَرْتُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ عِنْدَ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ فَقَالَ مَا أَنَا بِمُلْتَمِسِهَا بَعْدَمَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا فِي عَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ الْتَمِسُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ فِي الْوِتْرِ مِنْهُ قَالَ فَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرَةَ يُصَلِّي فِي الْعِشْرِينَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ كَصَلَاتِهِ فِي سَائِرِ السَّنَةِ فَإِذَا دَخَلَ الْعَشْرُ اجْتَهَدَ.
English Translation
Yazid b. Harun informed us: 'Uyayna b. 'Abd al-Rahman informed us, from his father, who said: I mentioned the Night of Decree in the presence of Abu Bakra, and he said: "I do not seek it, after what I heard from the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, except in the last ten nights. I heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'Seek it in the last ten, on the odd nights of it.'" He said: Abu Bakra would pray during the first twenty nights of Ramadan as he prayed during the rest of the year, but when the last ten began, he would strive hard.
