English Translation

Isma'il b. Ibrahim narrated to us: al-Jurayri narrated to us: 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Bakra narrated to us, from his father, who said: The major sins were mentioned before the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said: "Associating partners with God, Blessed and Exalted, and disobedience to parents" — and he had been reclining, then he sat up, and said: "and false testimony, and false testimony," or "false speech." The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, kept repeating it until we said: "If only he would stop." And he said once: al-Jurayri informed us: 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Bakra narrated to us, from his father, who said: We were sitting with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said: "Shall I not inform you of the gravest of the major sins? Associating partners with God, the Exalted," and he related it.
