حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامٌ وَعَفَّانُ وَعَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ قَالَا ثَنَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ عَفَّانُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عِمْرَانُ بْنُ عِصَامٍ الضُّبَعِيُّ وَقَالَ يَزِيدُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ عِصَامٍ الضُّبَعِيِّ عَنْ شَيْخٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَصْرَةِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ { وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ } فَقَالَ هِيَ الصَّلَاةُ مِنْهَا شَفْعٌ وَمِنْهَا وَتْرٌ.
English Translation
Abdullah told us, my father told me, Yazid told us, Hammam, and Affan, and Abd as-Samad informed us, they said: Hammam told us, from Qatadah - Affan said in his account: he said: Imran ibn Isam ad-Duba'i told me - and Yazid said: from Qatadah, from Imran ibn Isam ad-Duba'i, from an elder among the people of Basra, from Imran ibn Husayn, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, concerning His saying, Mighty and Sublime, "By the even and the odd," he said: "It is the prayer; some of it is even and some of it is odd."
