حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نَعَامَةَ الْعَدَوِىُّ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ بُشَيْرِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْحَيَاءُ خَيْرٌ كُلُّهُ فَقَالَ بُشَيْرٌ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّ مِنْهُ ضَعْفًا وَإِنَّ مِنْهُ عَجْزًا فَقَالَ أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَتَجِيئَنِي بِالْمَعَارِيضِ لَا أُحَدِّثُكَ بِحَدِيثٍ مَا عَرَفْتُكَ فَقَالُوا يَا أَبَا نُجَيْدٍ إِنَّهُ طَيِّبُ الْهَوَى وَإِنَّهُ وَإِنَّهُ فَلَمْ يَزَالُوا بِهِ حَتَّى سَكَنَ وَحَدَّثَ.
English Translation
Abdullah told us, my father told me, Yazid ibn Harun told us, Abu Na'amah al-Adawi informed us, from Humayd ibn Hilal, from Bushayr ibn Ka'b, from Imran ibn Husayn, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Modesty is entirely good." Bushayr said: I said: "Indeed some of it is weakness, and some of it is incapacity." He said: "I tell you a report from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and you come to me with equivocations? I will not tell you a hadith as long as I know you." So they said: "O Abu Nujayd, he means well, and indeed he, indeed he..." and they kept on with him until he calmed down and continued relating.
