English Translation
Affan told us: Abu Awanah told us, from al-Mughirah, from Abu Ubayd, from Maymun Abu Abdullah, who said: Zayd ibn Arqam said, and I was listening: We halted with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, at a valley called Wadi Khumm, and he ordered the prayer, so he prayed it at midday. He said: Then he delivered a sermon to us, and a shade was made for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, with a garment over a samurah tree, against the sun, and he said: Do you not know, do you not bear witness, that I am closer to every believer than his own self? They said: Yes indeed. He said: Whoever's master I am, then Ali is his master; O Allah, be an enemy of whoever opposes him and take as an ally whoever allies with him.
