حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ وَابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ الْمَعْنَى وَقَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي يَزِيدَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَرَأَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي صَلَوَاتٍ وَسَكَتَ فَنَقْرَأُ فِيمَا قَرَأَ فِيهِنَّ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ وَنَسْكُتُ فِيمَا سَكَتَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ فَلَعَلَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي نَفْسِهِ فَغَضِبَ مِنْهَا وَقَالَ أَيُتَّهَمُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَعَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَتَتَّهِمُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
English Translation
The Prophet (peace be upon him) recited aloud in some prayers and was silent in others. We recite aloud in the prayers in which the Prophet of Allah recited aloud, and we are silent in the ones in which he was silent. When it was suggested to him that perhaps the Prophet was reciting to himself, Ibn 'Abbas became angry and said: "Do you accuse the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)?"
