حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ عَائِشِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ سَمِعَهُ مِنْ عَلِيٍّ يَعْنِي عَلَى مِنْبَرِ الْكُوفَةِ كُنْتُ أَجِدُ الْمَذْيَ فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ أَنَّ ابْنَتَهُ عِنْدِي فَقُلْتُ لِعَمَّارٍ سَلْهُ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ يَكْفِي مِنْهُ الْوُضُوءُ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَ ثَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ أَنَّ عَمَّارَ بْنَ يَاسِرٍ كَانَ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ الرُّخْصَةَ الَّتِي أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِي الصَّعِيدِ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّهُمْ ضَرَبُوا أَكُفَّهُمْ فِي الصَّعِيدِ فَمَسَحُوا بِهِ وُجُوهَهُمْ مَسْحَةً وَاحِدَةً ثُمَّ عَادُوا فَضَرَبُوا فَمَسَحُوا أَيْدِيَهُمْ إِلَى الْمَنَاكِبِ وَالْآبَاطِ.
English Translation
Sufyan told us, from Amr, from Ata', from A'ish ibn Anas - who heard it from Ali, that is, on the pulpit of Kufah: "I used to experience the discharge of madhy, and I was too shy to ask him about it because his daughter was married to me, so I said to Ammar: 'Ask him.' So he asked him, and he said: 'Ablution is sufficient for it.'" Uthman ibn Umar told us, he said: Yunus told us, from al-Zuhri, from Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Utbah, that Ammar ibn Yasir used to narrate that the concession Allah, Mighty and Majestic, sent down regarding the clean earth - and he mentioned the hadith, except that he said: "They struck their palms on the earth and wiped their faces with it once, then repeated, striking it and wiping their hands up to the shoulders and armpits."
