English Translation

Yunus ibn Muhammad told us: Abd al-Wahid told us: Asim ibn Kulayb told us, from his father, from Wa'il ibn Hujr al-Hadrami, who said: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "I will surely observe how he prays." He said: He faced the qiblah, said the takbir, and raised his hands until they were level with his shoulders. Then he took hold of his left hand with his right. When he wished to bow, he raised his hands until they were level with his shoulders; when he bowed, he placed his hands on his knees; when he raised his head from bowing, he raised his hands until they were level with his shoulders; when he prostrated, he placed his hands from his face in that same position. When he sat, he spread out his left foot, placed his left hand on his left knee, placed the edge of his elbow on his right thigh, and closed his fingers into the shape used for counting thirty, making a circle with one finger, and pointed with his index finger.
