حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ وَحُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ أَخْبَرَاهُ أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا النُّعْمَانَ بْنَ بَشِيرٍ يَقُولُ نَحَلَنِي أَبِي غُلَامًا فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأُشْهِدَهُ فَقَالَ أَكُلَّ وَلَدِكَ قَدْ نَحَلْتَ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَارْدُدْهُ.
English Translation
Sufyan b. Uyayna told us: al-Zuhri told us, from Muhammad b. al-Nu'man b. Bashir and Humayd b. Abd al-Rahman b. Awf, who informed him that they both heard al-Nu'man b. Bashir say: My father gave me a slave boy as a gift, so I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to have him witness it. He said, "Have you given all your children the same?" He said, "No." He said, "Then return it."
