حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَيُّوبَ قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الطُّفَاوِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ الْمَعْنَي عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ تُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ وَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ فَإِنِّي أَتُوبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَأَسْتَغْفِرُهُ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ مِائَةِ مَرَّةٍ.
English Translation
Mu'tamir narrated to us, who said: I heard Ayyub say - and Muhammad ibn Abdur-Rahman al-Tufawi narrated to us, who said: Ayyub narrated to us, the meaning being, from Humayd ibn Hilal, from Abu Burdah, from a man of the Emigrants, saying: I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: O people, repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness, for I repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness a hundred times every day, or more than a hundred times.
