English Translation
Muhammad ibn Bakr, that is, al-Bursani, narrated to us: Wuhayb ibn Khalid informed us: Ayyub narrated to us, from Abu Qilabah, from Abu al-Ash'ath, who said: Speakers stood up in Iliya (Jerusalem) during the governorship of Mu'awiyah, may Allah Most High be pleased with him, and they spoke, and the last of them to speak was Murrah ibn Ka'b. He said: 'Were it not for a hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, I would not have stood.' I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, mention a tribulation and bring it near, and a veiled man passed by, and he said: 'This man, on that day, and his companions will be upon truth and guidance.' I said, 'Is this the one, O Messenger of Allah?' and I turned his face toward him, and he said, 'This one' — and it turned out to be 'Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him.
