English Translation
It was narrated to us by Isma'il ibn Ibrahim, it was narrated to us by Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, who said: When Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) was killed, orators stood up in Iliya (Jerusalem). The last of them to stand was a man from among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called Murrah ibn Ka'b, who said: "Were it not for a hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I would not have stood up. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned a time of tribulation, and I think he said, 'and brought it near'" - Isma'il was uncertain - "then a veiled man passed by, and he said: 'This one and his companions will be upon the truth that day.' So I went and took hold of his shoulder and turned his face towards the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I said, 'Is it this one?' He said: 'Yes.'" He said: And it was indeed Uthman (may Allah, the Exalted, be pleased with him).
