حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ أَنَّ صَفْوَانَ بْنَ يَعْلَى بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ يَعْلَى كَانَ يَقُولُ لِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ لَيْتَنِي أَرَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ يُنْزَلُ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ فَلَمَّا كَانَ بِالْجِعْرَانَةِ وَعَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَوْبٌ قَدْ أُظِلَّ بِهِ مَعَهُ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ مِنْهُمْ عُمَرُ إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ عَلَيْهِ جُبَّةٌ مُتَضَمِّخًا بِطِيبٍ قَالَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ تَرَى فِي رَجُلٍ أَحْرَمَ بِعُمْرَةٍ فِي جُبَّةٍ بَعْدَ مَا تَضَمَّخَ بِطِيبٍ فَنَظَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ سَكَتَ فَجَاءَهُ الْوَحْيُ فَأَشَارَ عُمَرُ إِلَى يَعْلَى أَنْ تَعَالَ فَجَاءَ يَعْلَى فَأَدْخَلَ رَأْسَهُ فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُحْمَرُّ الْوَجْهِ كَذَلِكَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ سُرِّيَ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ أَيْنَ الَّذِي سَأَلَنِي عَنْ الْعُمْرَةِ آنِفًا فَالْتُمِسَ الرَّجُلُ فَأُتِيَ بِهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَّا الطِّيبُ الَّذِي بِكَ فَاغْسِلْهُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَأَمَّا الْجُبَّةُ فَانْزِعْهَا ثُمَّ اصْنَعْ فِي عُمْرَتِكَ كَمَا تَصْنَعُ فِي حَجَّتِكَ.
English Translation
Yahya ibn Sa'id told us, from Ibn Jurayj, he said: Ata' informed me, that Safwan ibn Ya'la ibn Umayyah informed him, that Ya'la used to say to Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, "I wish I could see the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when revelation is sent down to him." When he was at al-Ji'ranah, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had a garment shading him, with some of his Companions around him, among them Umar, a man came wearing a cloak, smeared with perfume. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about a man who enters ihram for umrah in a cloak after smearing himself with perfume?" The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, looked for a while, then fell silent, and revelation came to him. Umar signaled to Ya'la to come. Ya'la came and put his head in, and there was the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with his face flushed red, like that for a while, then it was lifted from him. He said, "Where is the one who asked me about umrah just now?" The man was sought and brought. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "As for the perfume that is on you, wash it three times, and as for the cloak, take it off, then do in your umrah what you would do in your Hajj."
