Affan told us, Hammam told us, Yahya ibn Abi Kathir informed us, Abdullah ibn Abi Qatadah told us, from his father, that he witnessed the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, pray over a deceased person, and he heard him say: 'O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those of us who are present and those who are absent, our young and our old, our males and our females.' He said: Abu Salamah also told me these eight phrases, and he added two phrases: 'Whoever of us You keep alive, keep him alive upon Islam, and whoever of us You cause to die, cause him to die upon faith.'
