حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ حَدَّثَنَا مُفَضَّلُ بْنُ مُهَلْهِلٍ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ عَنْ شِبَاكٍ عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ قَالَ سَأَلْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثًا فَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ لَنَا فَقُلْنَا إِنَّ أَرْضَنَا أَرْضٌ بَارِدَةٌ فَسَأَلْنَاهُ أَنْ يُرَخِّصَ لَنَا فِي الطُّهُورِ فَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ لَنَا وَسَأَلْنَاهُ أَنْ يُرَخِّصَ لَنَا فِي الدُّبَّاءِ فَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ لَنَا فِيهِ سَاعَةً وَسَأَلْنَاهُ أَنْ يَرُدَّ إِلَيْنَا أَبَا بَكْرَةَ فَأَبَى وَقَالَ هُوَ طَلِيقُ اللَّهِ وَطَلِيقُ رَسُولِهِ وَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرَةَ خَرَجَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ حَاصَرَ الطَّائِفَ فَأَسْلَمَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَرَكَانِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ عَنْ شِبَاكٍ عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ.
English Translation
Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, Mufaddal ibn Muhalhil narrated to us, from Mughirah, from Shibak, from al-Sha'bi, from a man of Thaqif, who said: We asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about three things, and he did not grant us any concession regarding them. We said: Our land is a cold land, so we asked him to grant us a concession regarding purification, but he did not grant it to us. And we asked him to grant us a concession regarding the gourd vessel, but he did not grant it to us for even a moment. And we asked him to return Abu Bakrah to us, but he refused and said: He is a freedman of Allah and a freedman of His Messenger. Abu Bakrah had gone out to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, when he besieged al-Ta'if, and he embraced Islam. Abdullah narrated to us, al-Warkani narrated to us, Abu al-Ahwas informed us, from Mughirah, from Shibak, from al-Sha'bi, from a man of Thaqif, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, similarly.
