English Translation
Hashim told us, saying: Sulayman told us, from Humayd ibn Hilal, from Bishr ibn Asim, who said: Uqbah ibn Malik al-Laythi told us, who said: While the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was delivering a sermon, someone said: "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, the one who said what he said, said it only as a plea for protection from being killed" — and he mentioned the story. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, turned to him, displeasure recognizable on his face, then said: "Indeed, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, refuses to accept from me (any excuse for) one who kills a believer" — he said it three times.
