حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الدِّمَشْقِيِّ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْيَحْصَبِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِعَبْدٍ خَيْرًا فَقَّهَهُ فِي الدِّينِ.
English Translation
Yahya ibn Ishaq narrated to us: Ibn Lahi'a narrated to us from Ja'far ibn Rabi'a from Rabi'a ibn Yazid al-Dimashqi, who informed him from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amir al-Yahsubi, who said: I heard Mu'awiya ibn Abi Sufyan say: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'When Allah, Mighty and Majestic, wishes good for a servant, He grants him understanding of the religion.'
