حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يِسَافٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ ظَالِمٍ قَالَ خَطَبَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ فَنَالَ مِنْ عَلِيٍّ فَخَرَجَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَعْجَبُ مِنْ هَذَا يَسُبُّ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَشْهَدُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّا كُنَّا عَلَى حِرَاءٍ أَوْ أُحُدٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اثْبُتْ حِرَاءُ أَوْ أُحُدُ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْكَ صِدِّيقٌ أَوْ شَهِيدٌ فَسَمَّى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعَشَرَةَ فَسَمَّى أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ وَعَلِيًّا وَطَلْحَةَ وَالزُّبَيْرَ وَسَعْدًا وَعَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ وَسَمَّى نَفْسَهُ سَعِيدًا.
English Translation
Al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah gave a sermon and spoke ill of Ali. Sa'id ibn Zayd came out and said: 'Are you not amazed at this man who curses Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)? I bear witness regarding the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) that we were on Hira or Uhud when the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Be still, O Hira (or Uhud)! For upon you is only a truthful one or a martyr.' The Prophet named the ten: Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali, Talhah, al-Zubayr, Sa'd, Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, and he named himself — Sa'id.
