حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ أَبُو زَيْدٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ غَسَّانَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كَانَ أَبِي فِي الْوَفْدِ الَّذِينَ وَفَدُوا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ عَبْدِ قَيْسٍ فَنَهَاهُمْ عَنْ هَذِهِ الْأَوْعِيَةِ قَالَ فَأَتْخَمْنَا ثُمَّ أَتَيْنَاهُ الْعَامَ الْمُقْبِلَ قَالَ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ نَهَيْتَنَا عَنْ هَذِهِ الْأَوْعِيَةِ فَأَتْخَمْنَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ انْتَبِذُوا فِيمَا بَدَا لَكُمْ وَلَا تَشْرَبُوا مُسْكِرًا فَمَنْ شَاءَ أَوْكَأَ سِقَاءَهُ عَلَى إِثْمٍ.
English Translation
Hasan b. Musa narrated to us: Abd al-Aziz b. Muslim Abu Zayd narrated to us, from Yahya b. Abdullah al-Taymi, from Yahya b. Ghassan al-Taymi, from his father, who said: My father was among the delegation of Abd al-Qays who came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he forbade them these containers. He said: We suffered indigestion, then we came to him the following year and said, "O Messenger of Allah, you forbade us these containers and we suffered indigestion." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Make nabidh in whatever seems fit to you, but do not drink anything intoxicating; whoever wishes may tie the neck of his waterskin upon sin."
