حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ عَبَايَةَ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ عَنْ جَدِّهِ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الْحُمَّى فَوْرُ جَهَنَّمَ فَابْرُدُوهَا بِالْمَاءِ.
English Translation
Affan told us: Abu al-Ahwas told us, saying: Sa'id ibn Masruq told us, from Abayah ibn Rifa'ah, from his grandfather Rafi' ibn Khadij, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "Fever is a blast of the heat of Hell, so cool it with water."
