English Translation
Qutaybah ibn Sa'id told us, saying: Abd al-Aziz ibn Muhammad told us, from Rabi'ah ibn Abi Abd al-Rahman, from Hanzalah al-Zuraqi, from Rafi' ibn Khadij, that the people used to lease farmland in the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in return for [produce along] the water-channels, whatever the streams irrigated, and some straw; so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, disapproved of leasing farmland on these terms and forbade it. And Rafi' said: "There is no harm in leasing it for dirhams and dinars."
