English Translation

Abd al-Rahman told us, from Sufyan, from Wasil, from Abu Wa'il, who said: I sat with Shaybah ibn Uthman in this mosque, and he said, "Umar ibn al-Khattab sat with me in this sitting place of yours, and said, 'I had resolved not to leave in it any gold or silver without distributing it among the Muslims.'" He said: I said, "You will not do that." He said, "Why?" I said, "Your two companions did not do it." He said, "They are the two men to be followed."
