English Translation
Waki' told us, Sufyan told us, from Wasil al-Ahdab, from Abu Wa'il, who said: I sat with Shaybah ibn Uthman, and he said, "Umar ibn al-Khattab sat in this sitting place of yours, and said, 'I had resolved not to leave in the Ka'bah any gold or silver without distributing it among the people.'" He said: I said, "That is not for you [to do]; your two companions preceded you and did not do that." So he said, "They are the two men to be followed."
